Jeff Bridges stars as retired CIA agent Dan Chase in this Emmy-nominated action thriller. Living off the grid after absconding from the CIA, Chase learns that his past his coming to find him. An assassin is sent to kill him, an FBI agent is tasked with hunting him down and eventually, a special ops contractor is sent to pursue him. What the authorities don’t know is just how slippery this “old man” truly is.

The Old Man season 1 premieres Tuesday 1 October on SBS and SBS On Demand.

Four Years Later explores the love story of Sridevi and Yash, who have to endure four years apart right after their wedding when Yash lands a medical traineeship in Australia. The series follows the couple’s turbulent time apart and reconnection – two timelines, two worlds, told through dual perspectives. The story explores themes of the changing nature of love, intimacy and belonging as you change within yourself and asks what it takes to find your way back to someone you have deeply loved after so long apart.

SBS Original Four Years Later premieres on Wednesday 2 October on SBS On Demand.

The Trigger – season 1

This tense French drama fuses racial tensions and political exploitation, exploring unique themes using the world of football. The series begins with a scandal that erupts when star player Fodé Thiam violently headbutts his coach and uses a slur against him, inciting accusations of racism and angry demands to exclude him from the team. The club calls for Sam, a brilliant but emotionally unstable PR fixer, to diffuse the crisis and save the team’s future. Sam’s journey takes a personal turn when she discovers that her former best friend is now a far-right leader working to exploit this situation for political gain. As the case unfolds, it tears painful rifts in French society and sparks the biggest fight of Sam’s career, pitting her against her most feared adversary.

So Long, Marianne tells the legendary love story between Canadian singer and poet Leonard Cohen and an extraordinary Norwegian woman, Marianne Ihlen. It’s an intimate tale of two young people falling in love during a period of their life when they are trying to figure out who they are and their place in the world, while one is becoming one of the most famous singers of all time. Their story crosses the world, travelling from the Greek Island of Hydra to New York, Montreal and Oslo, with the majority of the series set on picturesque Hydra, where they lived during the 1960s. There, they joined a bohemian group of writers, artists, poets, and outcasts who were exploring a new world of free love, drugs, and artistic freedom, but also experiencing the rivalries and jealousy that accompanied their intense, interwoven lives.

And two murders, first of the commander of the prison officers, his best friend, then of his main ally among the inmates, risk undermining his rule and bringing to the surface the cancer lurking in the recesses of his kingdom.

The Gone – season 1

This taught, mystery drama is a deftly crafted, character-driven series that follows Dublin-based Theo Richter, an Irish Special Branch detective, as he heads to New Zealand to help search for two young Irish tourists who have vanished without a trace. They’ve gone missing from Mount Affinity, a picturesque rural town with a dark history of disappearance and death that has recently become home to supposedly altruistic tech conglomerate Houkura – dividing the local population. This will be Richter’s last case as he’s just announced his early retirement, surprising colleagues. He’s teamed with Diana Huia, a recently promoted young detective who returns to her hometown to work the case. Seemingly worlds apart, but both hiding secrets, Theo and Diana must find a way of gaining local trust, differentiating facts from fiction and stopping all-out war to find the young Irish couple before the clock runs out.

The Gone season 1 premieres on Thursday 31 October on SBS On Demand.
